Final Shot

For this shot I wanted to convey sunset at a beachfront aparmtnet. To do this I pulled reference from paintings, films, and digital art to help inform realistic lighting. The biggest challenge of this scene was getting it set up and ready for lighitng. As this was passion project from a generous animator, they never had any intention of rendering a final image. This project pushed me to learn about alembic caching and UV workflow from reference scenes.

 
 

Lighting Breakdown

I used Maya and Arnold to create PBR textures and place 3D lights. The breakdown shows the process of building up the lighting in Maya and then demonstrates how I pushed the look through compositing in Nuke.
