I wanted to explore the similarities between lighting for 3D and painting by doing a lighting study in unreal engine 5 using still life paintings for reference. I rebuilt the grape shader from the ground up to leverage the SSS Profile shader set up in unreal engine. This allowed for much more realistic subsurface scattering on the grapes. Still can’t believe I was able to do lighting, adjust GI, and swap out assets all in real time.
